Tucked away snugly in a little corner for the Suffolk countryside, is the widely acclaimed Snape Maltings. As frequent visitors to nearby Saxmundham, we often drop by for a little nose around their wonderful House and Garden shop, which offers a wide selection of stunning furniture and home accessories with a distinct country home feel. Whatís extra special about their furnishings and furniture is it canít be found on the High Street, so that you feel you are buying something just that little bit unique and different.
Our stop off is usually followed by a leisurely stroll through the wonderful Antique and Collectors Market. A treasure trove of artefacts, antiques and collectorís items from silver necklaces and stamps to historic maps and vintage dresses. You really donít know what you might come away with. Once we picked up an antique hoe which now dutifully sits as a centre piece in the garden.
Little Rascals is a must for parents of small children looking for something a bit special and original. Their shop is an Aladdinís cave of beautiful wooden and handmade toys, games and soft creatures. Their selection of beautiful clothes from Natures Purest is worth a peek as well, all ethically made and produced.
Their farmers market also has a wonderful array of fresh produce and delicious artisan products all under one roof. Finish off with a brisk walk along the River Alde upon which the Maltings nestle. There are a selection of designated walks depending on time and interest.
You really could lose yourself for hours in the wonderful shops, art galleries and eateries in Snape Maltings. But the visit would not be complete without stopping of for a performance at the world famous Concert Hall, which has a full schedule of classical concerts throughout the year.
